Efficacy of D-mannose versus placebo in the treatment of recurrent UTIs: a systematic review and meta analysis

This study investigates the effectiveness of D-Mannose as a prophylactic treatment for recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), comparing it to a placebo in randomized clinical trials. The analysis included three studies with a total of 696 patients, with 352 receiving D-Mannose. Results showed no significant clinical difference between D-Mannose and placebo in preventing recurrent UTIs. Despite this, with rising antibiotic resistance, alternative therapies like D-Mannose may still offer value, warranting further research to explore its potential benefits.
