Site and Post-Excavation Data from a Watching Brief and Trial Trench Evaluation at Osbourne Yard, Oldham Road, Manchester 2021-2022

This collection comprises images, vector graphics and scanned site records from a watching brief and subsequent evaluation trenching by Archaeological Research Services Ltd at the proposed Osbourne Yard development site, Oldham Road, Manchester.
The watching brief uncovered archaeological material recorded in all test pit locations, largely in the form of demolition material beneath modern hardstanding. Test pits 4, 5 and 7 also contained redbrick walls associated with the 19th century buildings that had formerly occupied the site. The watching brief confirmed the presence of archaeological remains on the site and informed the location of evaluation trenches to be subsequently excavated.
The evaluation trenching found evidence of 19th and possibly 20th century structures in all of the trenches that were explored. The trenches produced a large quantity of handmade red brick walls which indicate the presence of structures along with the evidence of an interior surface found with in Trench 1. None of the evaluation trenches produced any finds.
