The output GRMB (Geospace Region and Magnetospheric Boundary) dataset

This is a companion dataset to the paper by Grison B. et al. (2026), Extension, Improvements and Perspectives of the Cluster GRMB Data Set, published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics. This dataset provides classification labels describing which geospace regions were crossed by each of the four Cluster spacecraft throughout the mission. For every time interval, the data assign one of several region categories such as plasmasphere, plasmapause transition region, plasmasheet, lobes, polar regions, magnetopause, magnetosheath, bow shock transition region, solar wind, and others. Additional labels indicate whether the spacecraft were inside or outside the magnetosphere, or if the region could not be determined. The dataset spans the years 2001–2023 and includes updates that refine several region definitions to reduce ambiguities and improve consistency across spacecraft and years. It is intended to support studies of geospace region occurrence, boundary crossings, and the development of automated classification methods.
