Fecal microbiota and inflammatory status in canine obesity: the influence of diet and the effects on weight management in a cohort of obese pet dogs and their lean counterparts

This study aimed to investigate if obesity may be associated with changes in the composition of fecal microbiota, microbial metabolites and blood parameters by comparing obese dogs and leans dogs fed the same diets, and if fecal microbiota of obese dogs may show differences in terms of bacterial populations before and after a weight loss programme.
