资源简介:
Dental caries is a globally prevalent oral disease. It is caused by cariogenic microorganisms, a cariogenic diet, susceptible tooth surfaces and time. Caries begins when cariogenic bacteria accumulate on tooth surfaces and metabolize sugars to produce lactic acid, which leads to tooth demineralization. Demineralization is the process of removing mineral ions (calcium and phosphate) from the hydroxyapatite crystals of the tooth's hard tissue. Therefore, dental materials that inhibit the growth of cariogenic microorganisms and stabilize the release of calcium ions over time are thought to have the potential to control dental caries. In Chapter 2 of my study, I provide a narrative review of the applications of zeolites and zeolite imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) in various fields of dentistry such as restorative dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, implantology, periodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery. Based on the great potential of zeolites in dentistry, in Chapter 3 of the study, we synthesized a novel zeolite focused on caries management. In Chapter 4 of the study, we developed a novel glass ionomer cement for caries management by adding calcium-silver zeolite to GIC.
