资源简介:
Thirteen soil samples were removed from a stratigraphic column at the
Marsh Hawk site (32BI3l7) for pollen and phytolith analysis (Table 1). The
site is located in a ridge running in a southeast/northwest direction on the
east side of the Little Missouri Badlands. The study area contains a high
density of archaeological sites. The paucity of paleoenvironmental studies
of this area has lead to the analyis of these 13 samples for their pollen
and phytolith remains. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the
paleoenvironment from the stratigraphic profile sampled, particularly during
the periods of occupation at this site. Site 32BI3l7 is a multi-component
site with the cultural deposits ranging from the present ground surface to a
depth of 70 cm below the surface.
