IMDb-based Italian TV Serial Production (2000-2023): Cross-Sector Female Employment Comparison with EUROSTAT Data

This dataset contains supplementary materials for the comparative analysis of female employment trends across the Italian audiovisual industry and all Italian economic sectors. These materials complement Section 3.2.2 of the study "Women Off-Screen: A Data-Driven Analysis of Gender Inequalities in Italian TV Serial Production (2000-2023)," where they are compared with female employment data from Italian TV serial production. The dataset provides EUROSTAT employment statistics and regression analyses for the period 2008-2022, enabling cross-sector comparison with the TV serial production trends analyzed in the main study. The dataset includes three items: 1. Comparative Table: Summary statistics of female employment rates for the Italian audiovisual industry (NACE codes J59-J60) and all Italian economic sectors (2008-2022), including regression analysis results (slope coefficients, R², p-values, confidence intervals). The table also reports the corresponding statistics for Italian TV serial production for comparison purposes; 2. Regression Plot - Italian Audiovisual Industry: Linear regression showing female employment trends in Motion picture, video, and television programme production, sound recording, and music publishing activities (NACE code J59) and Programming and broadcasting activities (NACE code J60); 3. Regression Plot - All Italian Economic Sectors: Linear regression showing female employment trends across all NACE sectors in Italy. Each regression plot displays:- Annual female employment rate (percentage) on the y-axis;- Year (2008-2022) on the x-axis. METHODOLOGY: The analysis uses EUROSTAT employment data for 2008-2022. Employment definition follows EUROSTAT standards: a person is considered employed if they worked at least one hour during a reference week.
