Transcriptome analysis of vancomycin-tolerant Staphylococus aureus strains. Staphylococcus aureus

We previously reported that vancomycin-survivor (VSV) strains acquired diverse mutations of ileS gene encoding isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase (IleRS) under vancomycin exposure of S. aureus FDA209P. However, the mechanism via ileS mutations responsible for vancomycin tolerance phenotypes had been inadequately verified. In order to verify how the physiological shift via ileS mutations induces vancomycin-tolerance phenotypes, we compared the transcriptomes among VSVs and the parental strain with mupirocin (an IleRS inhibitor) treatment using RNA-seq.
