Representative survey of the public sector on the implementation of energy efficiency measures, the use of energy services and aspects related to energy efficiency, status: Surveys since 2021

Every year, the Federal Office for Energy Efficiency (BfEE) surveys around 500 representatives of the public sector on the implementation of energy efficiency measures and the use of external energy services as part of a nationwide representative survey, with a particular focus on the services of energy consulting, energy contracting and energy management. In each of the municipalities surveyed, the department responsible for the municipal properties is identified and interviewed by telephone. In addition, school administrations, waste management companies as well as water utilities and wastewater disposal companies are also surveyed. At Land level, the surveyed bodies (e.g. Land Building Offices) are free to decide whether the questionnaire is answered by one person by telephone or whether several people can access an online questionnaire with identical content over a longer period of time. In addition, universities or colleges directly subordinated to the Länder are also surveyed. In addition, a changing target group from the field of institutions, foundations and public law bodies is surveyed annually as part of the demand survey. A standardized questionnaire is used. The available data are plausible and adjusted. The datasets have been available since 2021.
