Fungal biodiversity of the BCCM/IHEM collection. undefined

BCCM/IHEM is a biological resource centre established in Brussels (Belgium) since 1980 and dedicated to the collection, preservation and distribution of moulds and yeasts having an impact on the health of humans and animals. It includes notably fungal pathogens, allergenic strains, mycotoxin-producing species and contaminants of the environment. BCCM/IHEM also integrated the collection of the Belgian mycologist Raymond Vanbreuseghem (RV collection). More than 16.000 strains are publicly available through an online catalogue. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region was sequenced on a large selection of strains (ca. 7.000 strains) representing more than 1.400 different species. The goal was to provide additional ITS barcodes of authenticated fungal strains to the scientific community.
