Survey Data on Investment Barriers and Stock Market Participation in the Czech Republic (2025)

This dataset contains anonymised responses from a representative quota-based survey of Czech adults (N = 1,498) conducted in 2025. The survey examines household investment behaviour, attitudes, and decision-making across a broad range of topics.

The survey instrument covers: demographics (sex, age, education, employment status, city size, region), self-reported stock market investor status, motivations for and barriers to stock investing (ranked), experience with 13 asset classes (savings accounts, stocks, bonds, real estate, mutual funds, ETFs, pension funds, precious metals, venture capital, cryptocurrencies, alternative investments, building savings, pension savings), self-assessed investment knowledge, the Lusardi and Mitchell "Big Three" financial literacy questions, institutional trust, fraud perception, a four-item loss aversion scale, perceived investment complexity, information overload, time commitment perceptions, financial planning horizon, social influence on investment decisions, disposable income and financial constraints, a four-item real estate preference (REP) scale comparing property and equity markets on perceived quality, safety, trust, and understanding, and open-ended items on investment advantages, risks, and financial goals.

Fifteen respondents flagged for data quality were excluded prior to analysis. The survey was approved by the ethical committee of the author's university. All items were administered in Czech.
