Deployment of a sediment trap, the NOAA Gulf of Mexico Trap (NGMT), in the Northern Gulf of Mexico (28 deg N, 89 deg W). The sediment trap was deployed at a depth of 550 meters and a bottom depth of 1100 meters. From December 2021 to November 2023 (NGMT-1 through NGMT-4), the trap contained 13 cups and was deployed for 6 months (each cup open for 14 days); from November 2023 onward (NGMT-5 and beyond), the trap contained 21 cups and was deployed for 9 months (each cup open for 13 days).
