Effect of Bacteroides vulgatus on colitis and depressive-like behavior in a murine model of inflammatory bowel disease: involvement of the gut-brain axis

IBD is characterized by chronic recurrences of intestinal inflammation and intestinal immune disturbances.Bacteroides vulgatus can alleviate DSS-induced colitis in mice, but the mechanism is unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the changes in gene expression in the intestinal tissue of mice with colitis following treatment with Bacteroides vulgatus by RNA sequencing. Overall design: To clarify the role of B. vulgatus in colitis, we treated dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS)-induced mice with B. vulgatus. The body weight, disease activity index (DAI), Colon length and colon tissue H&E staining was used to evaluate the severity of colitis. In mice, we compared the severity of colitis between DSS and DSS+BV groups and randomly selected three mice from each group for RNA sequencing analysis.
