Whole-Genome Sequencing Data from a Neuropathological Study of Severe Stroke with Axonal Injury and Demyelination

This dataset comprises whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data from a clinical, neuropathological, and genetic study of severe, acute stroke. The study cohort includes three middle-aged patients who succumbed to severe stroke with short disease duration, alongside age-matched controls. Neuropathological examination revealed key features such as diffuse axonal injury (indicated by amyloid precursor protein (APP) deposition) and demyelination, which were notably distinct from the primary infarct or hemorrhagic lesions. All cases exhibited significant brain swelling and basilar atherosclerosis.
