Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there were two brothers-in-law. While they were plucking weeds in the field, one of the brothers-in-law heard the sound of deer. When he heard the sound, he said, "My brother-in-law, there is a deer in the forest." His brother-in-law replied, "I have heard that the elders warn people not to investigate when they hear the sound of a deer." But he was curious and went there. He was happy with the thought of catching the deer. He thought to himself, "I am lucky today. I will get a deer." Then, he suddenly pounced on the deer. But it was not the deer. It was actually a snake. The snake also thought, "Today, I will get to eat a human." The snake bit the man, but it happened to bite only his longyi. The man was scared and thought, "This snake is going to swallow me. I should take off my longyi." He took off his longyi and ran away. Meanwhile, the snake was happy with the thought, "I get to eat a human today." Later, the snake found out that it was not a human. It was just a longyi. On the other hand, the man who escaped from the snake thought, "If I go into the village without undergarment, the villagers will drive me out of the village. I am embarrassed and frightened." So he went to his wife who was cleaning the field. He shouted, "My wife, please give me your turban." The wife thought, "What is happening to him?" Then she brought her turban to give her husband. When she walked into the hut, she saw that her husband was half naked. She was shocked. The husband explained to her everything. He explained that he had to take off his longyi to escape from the snake. He wrapped the turban around his lower body and went into the village. When the villagers saw him, they said, "Look at him! He is wearing the woman's turban as a longyi." He was embarrassed. He was always careful not to have this kind of problem again in the future.
