Exploration of microbial diversity and community structure in hyper saline meteoritic crater Lonar Lake, India: Using 16s rRNA amplicon sequencing

Lonar Lake, hypersaline hyperalkaline soda lake, created in the Deccan basalts, only one meteoritic impact crater in basaltic rocks in the world, is a unique ecosystem. Nevertheless, a lot of work was done in geological and culturable microbiological aspect; microbial community composition and structure within the hypersaline Lonar Lake are not well documented. So in the present study we have explored bacterial diversity and community structure of Lonar Lake sediments and water samples by analyzing 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
