NDFF ProRail species and biotope mapping
收藏资源简介:
This set of protocols focuses on species surveys that are essential to sustained management and maintenance within the framework of the Flora and Fauna Act 1. ProRail expects staff who carry out management activities to work within the guidelines of the law and to use the NDFF data to consult up-to-date information when planning and executing sustained management. These protocols apply to species mapping, which generally follow biotope mapping such as described in chapter 3 of this protocol or a habitat scan (104.004 ProRail Habitat scan), which determines the suitability of an area for the occurrence of a species. ProRail limits sustained management and maintenance within its purview in an environmental sense to sides of railroads (grasslands, brushwood and coppices) and ditches, dyke embankments and banks. These protocols do not apply to woodland vegetation, larger bodies of water, in/on buildings or in/on works of art. These protocols are spatially limited to the area ProRail manages. For safety reasons, the danger zone by the railway is excluded from surveys. Data that is deemed necessary is limited to species that fall under tables 2 and 3 of the Flora and Fauna Act. To fully survey an area in which various species occur, 3 survey visits are planned, each with its own accent on specific groups to examine.
