PNUEA Report on the Efficient Use of Water

This preliminary version of the National Programme for the Efficient Use of Water results from a study prepared by the National Engineering Laboratory Civil (LNEC) with the support of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), which it ran from August 2000 to August 2001, promoted by the Water Institute (INAG) of the Ministry of Environment and Planning Territory (MAOT). The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency with which water is used in Portugal in the urban, agricultural and industrial sectors, and propose a a set of measures to make better use of this resource, having as additional benefits the reduction of the resulting waste water and the associated energy consumption.
