This repository contains data, code, and metadata necessary to reproduce the analyses and figures from Valdés-Uribe and Hoelscher (2026) “Edge effects on evapotranspiration from tropical forest fragments,” submitted to Ecological Informatics. It is organized as follows: data/raw/: Original GIS inputs Ecuador 2022 land-cover GeoTIFF (30 m) Ecuador 2022 land-cover Polygon Forest fragment vector layer (GeoPackage) Reprojected ECOSTRESS latent-heat flux rasters (7 from 2019; 31 from 2020) Elevation, tree cover, and aridity rasters data/processed/: Tabular datasets Daily_ET_and_Predictors.csv: ready for Random Forest modeling data/metadata/: ISO 19115 XML metadata for each raw dataset code/: R scripts (01–05) implementing Data preparation FRAGSTATS-style landscape metrics Changepoint detection Random Forest modeling and SHAP interpretation Plot generation for all manuscript figures model_outputs/: Intermediate and final model objects (.RData) and CSVs of predictions and SHAP values QGIS_WORKFLOW.txt: Step-by-step guide for spatial processing in QGIS 3.28.3 LICENSE: CC-BY 4.0 open-access license All scripts are fully annotated, use fixed seeds for reproducibility, and rely only on open-source software (R 4.2.2, QGIS 3.28.3). Metadata conform to ISO 19115 and describe coordinate reference systems, spatial extents, data provenance, and distribution URLs.
