资源简介:
This dataset is an archive of observational data of black carbon in snow from 1998 to 2018 from 21 studies. It's purpose is to be a resource in aerosol and climate model verification efforts to help constrain the impact of light-absorbing particles, including black carbon, on snow and ice melt in the Arctic. The dataset includes surface and sub-surface concentrations of black carbon in Arctic snowpacks analyzed using the thermal optical, single-particle soot photometer, dissolved black carbon, and integrating sphere/integrating sandwich spectrophotometer methods, as well as other ancillary data, such as snow age, density, and snow grain size, as they were reported in their original papers. As smoke transport and deposition to the Arctic from wildfires becomes increasingly frequent and intense, model verification with ground observations is imperative to improve the understanding of the rapidly changing environment.
