In 2023, I noticed an error in the metadata of the 'recruitment' file and also the lack of a column with information about the availability of space on each plot. This information has been included in a new file, called 'recruitment_v2' with the corrected information in yellow and the new information in green.. This dataset is the result of a field campaign that lasted from spring to autumn 2017, to collect information on all Quercus ilex recruits from the last 50 years that remain alive in plots of 17, 5.3 ha in the Iberian System (eastern Spain) and where we collected 177 of these recruits to establish relationships between the age of the plants from the growth ring count and the diameter of the root collar of the same plants measured in the field. We produced two databases. One of them ("recruitment") includes information on the sample plots: climate, intensity of deforestation, soil depth, cover of Quercus ilex and the potential nurse plants present and presence of domestic and wild herbivores, as well as information on all the recruits found and on other complementary points where there were no recruits: age of the recruit determined from the "diameter_age" database -see below- and the presence and identity of potential species that could act as plants within 50 cm around the sampling point.The other database ("age_diameter") is the data generated with the information on the plants from which the growth rings were counted and which were used to estimate the age of all the Quercus ilex recruits found in the plots and of which we measured the diameter of the root collar
