Anchorages

The dataset is an overview of anchorages that are exposed in Danish charts. The anchorages are a combination of areas where ships can await the further voyage, e.g. in connection with major commercial ports (portered) or Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), where VTS can assign a waiting space in case of bad weather, etc. Other anchorages are also combinations of harbour nests and emergency areas, as seen at Copenhagen Red. Although there are special anchorages in the waters, all ships can anchor anywhere in the Danish waters for a shorter period where it does not conflict with the information in the chart, e.g. where fixed installations, laid cables, wires or outright prohibited areas, etc. Data is provided by digitisation of charts. The starting point is ENC-cards for week 32 2015. Where there are discrepancies between paper cards and the ENC card, data is based on the ENC card. The Danish Maritime Authority shall maintain the layer so that it is kept up-to-date in accordance with the Notices.
