Date overview
This dataset provides respiratory data for human participants performing visual discrimination tasks under different task demands. The experiments aimed to explore whether the phase of respiration is specifically aligned to the time of stimulus presentation, and whether this alignment changes depending on the constraints imposed on response times (experiment 1), on trial-value (experiment 2) or on trial value and difficulty jointly (experiment 3).
Data description:
Data for each experiment are provided in one .mat file, e.g. Data_Exp1.mat
The format of the variable "Alldata" is as follows:
The field "Varnames" holds the labels for the columns in .data
The cells

The variable "RespPast " is a matrix with past respiration phase in time epoch around stimulus onsets. The time
axis of this is defined by ARG.RespPast in seconds.
The variable "RespCycleDurations{participant}" holds the durations of all detected respiration cycles per participant [Total dur, Inspiration, Exspiration]. Used only for the reporting of the duration of respiratory cycles.
The folder MatlabCode contains the code for the analysis and preparing the figures shown in the publication.
Analyze_Exp1.m provides the analysis for experiment 1 and similar for experiment 2 and 3.
