The changes of soil physical-chemical characteristics, shifts in soil microbial activities and community structure were investigated in a 30 years' field experiment subjected to legume based rotation, non-legume rotation and continuous cropping regimes. The prokaryotic community structure differed between continuous cropping and rotation soils and also differed from one another in rotation soils.
