The study aimed at assessing the conservation and function of genomic imprinting (or parent-specific gene expression) in the endosperm of closely-related species with cellular type. Developing endosperms from reciprocal crosses of three wild tomato species (Solanum) were sampled at 12 days after pollination, resulting in a total of 18 samples (three samples per cross direction). Tissue isolation was done via laser-microdissection.
