Dataset compiled in "Challenges for carbon crediting in Zostera marina (eelgrass) meadows"

Data compiled from the literature used in the review paper by Kennedy et al. 2025 "Challenges for carbon crediting in Zostera marina (eelgrass) meadows". This study addressed the potential for carbon crediting in meadows of Zostera marina (eelgrass), the most widely distributed seagrass species, through a review of sediment OC stocks, CAR, sources and stability (mineral associated organic matter - MAOM) of the organic matter. Out findings for eelgrass, which is a fast-growing colonizing-opportunistic seagrass species, were compared with those for Posidonia oceanica, typifying slow-growing, persistent seagrass species.The first tab of the file explains in detail the information that can be found in the document.
