In experimental model of HCC induction in mice, by intraperitoneal administration of diethylnitrosamine (DEN), long exposure to DEN leads to the development of HCC in almost 100% of males after 32-36 weeks, while in females the effectiveness of the induction ranges from 10-30%. Our results show that the induction of HCC after DEN administration differs between male and female mice and is dependent on MCPIP1 expression. In the control female mice, tumors did not develop, however, in the case of females mice with hepatocyte-specific knockout of the Zc3h12a gene coding MCPIP1 protein, we observe almost 100% of the tumor growth 40 weeks after DEN administration.For sequencing in this experiment, we used material from liver of female control mice (Mcpip1fl/fl) and female mice with hepatocyte-specific knockout of the Zc3h12a gene (Mcpip1fl/flAlbCre) 3 months after DEN administration, 3 per group.
