We propose timing observations of the relativistic pulsar - white-dwarf binary, PSR J1141$-$6545. This unique system offers access to a wide range of physics, from relativistic phenomena through pulsar emission cone studies, to the structure and distribution of interstellar plasma along our line-of-sight. The Parkes Ultra Wide Band Low Frequency (UWL) receiver has opened up the possibility of performing the first-ever studies of its orbital dynamics at high temporal resolution. Our analysis of data obtained to date suggests that the pulsar will precess away from our line-of-sight before 2023. Hence, regular observations are crucial to maximize science outcomes with this source.

本研究拟对相对论性脉冲星-白矮星双星系统PSR J1141−6545开展计时观测。该独特双星系统可覆盖多领域物理研究:涵盖相对论性现象、脉冲星辐射锥研究,乃至视线方向星际等离子体的结构与分布等课题。帕克斯超宽频带低频(UWL)接收机的投入使用,使得以高时间分辨率对该系统轨道动力学开展首次研究成为可能。基于截至目前获取的观测数据分析显示,该脉冲星将于2023年前进动偏离视线方向。因此,开展定期观测对最大化该源的科学产出至关重要。
