Tomato russet mite (Aculops lycopersici) (Acari: Eriophyidae) was originally obtained in the summer of 2008 from naturally infested greenhouse tomatoes in the Westland area (the Netherlands) and had been maintained on tomato plant ever since. The tomato russet mite is a well known pest of greenhouse tomatoes. Eriophyid mites are among the smallest terrestrial animals on earth.
