Italy: ESG criteria importance in financial and banking systems 2017

This statistic illustrates the results of a survey conducted in Italy among private investors as of September 2017. The aim of the survey was to find out investors' opinion with regard to the importance given to environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in the financial and banking system. Norms-based screening is a strategy that involves assessing each company held in the investment portfolio against specific standards of Environmental, Social and Governance performance. As of the survey period, 40 percent of the interviewed investors considered ESG criteria very important. By contrast, 11 percent of respondents declared these factors were not important at all.
