Digital Data from an Archaeological Evaluation at 99 High Street Wallingford, Oxfordshire 2019

This collection comprises images and GIS from an archaeological evaluation by Cotswold Archaeology at 99 High Street, Wallingford, Oxfordshire in November 2019. The evaluation was undertaken to accompany a planning application (Ref: P/16/S3268/FUL, conditions 5 and 6) for the construction of a single building.

One trench was excavated. A 20th century chalk surface associated with a post-built structure was uncovered atop more than 1.5m of post medieval and early modern levelling deposits.

No significant finds or archaeology pre-dating the post-medieval period were uncovered during the single trench evaluation, and the sondage at the west end of the trench showed that even at a depth of 2.1m below the current ground level (44.83m aOD), this was probably still the case.
