Vulnerability of the narrow endemic Cedrus brevifolia from Cyprus - Datasets of phenotypic traits and genotypic data

The dataset was obtained from the implementation of the research project “Vulnerability of the narrow endemic Cedrus brevifolia from Cyprus”. The project aimed at the detection of gene and phenotypic-anatomic traits diversity of Cedrus brevifolia, as a consequence of this species' adaptation (genetic and morphological) in its natural population. The project was co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research Promotion Foundation (now Research and Innovation Foundation); project code: DIDAKTOR/0609/13. Cedrus brevifolia is a narrow endemic coniferous tree species on the island of Cyprus. The species occurs in a single population within Pafos forest, covering an area of 264 ha (approx.), with altitudinal distribution from the upper limits of the meso-Mediterranean to the mid supra-Mediterranean zone (900 m–1400 m above sea level). The population of Cedrus brevifolia has a non-uniform distribution, since it is fragmented into five sites (subpopulations). The file “Needle-Morphoanatomical-Traits_Cedrus-brevifolia.xlsx” provides data from needles’ morphological and anatomical traits, from a total of 320 trees distributed across the identified sites.
