A Spatiotemporal Dataset of Museums in Moscow

The spatiotemporal dataset of current (as of February 1, 2022) museums in Moscow urban (within the Automobile Ring Road) was established via multi-source and first-hand data. Specifically, the entity list was based on the Russian Museum Encyclopedia published in 2001, and then was supplemented by the OpenStreetMap “Museum” POI. Meanwhile, Yandex map and Google map were combined to modify those changed, added, or disappeared museums. Finally, 355 entity objects were obtained with attribute fields including geometric center locations and opening years. In particular, the opening year came from a one-by-one manual search: using museum name and “дата открытия” as keywords, we successfully searched 321 records from official Russian websites, while the remaining unknown opening year was recorded as vacancies.
