## Introduction

Fivetran's PostgreSQL connector is a fully managed data integration. Our ELT connector extracts a deep level of data from PostgreSQL, replicates and loads that data in your centralized data warehouse or data lake, represented in an easy-to-navigate schema, where analysts can easily access and query it alongside the rest of the organization's critical information.

## Sync overview

Once Fivetran is connected to your PostgreSQL database or read replica, we pull a full dump of all selected data from your database. Using either the Fivetran Teleport Sync, logical replication, or XMIN change data capture process, we pull all your new and changed data at regular intervals.

If data in the source changes (for example, you add new tables or change a data type), Fivetran automatically detects and persists these changes into your destination. For every schema in your PostgreSQL source database, we create a schema in your destination that maps directly to its native schema. This ensures that the data in your destination is in a familiar format to work with.

## Getting started

1. Download Fivetran's PostgreSQL native application from the marketplace.
2. When prompted, log in to your existing Fivetran account, or create a new one if you're new to Fivetran.
3. Upon authentication, Fivetran's API will automatically create a new Snowflake destination in your Fivetran account and link it to your Snowflake account.
4. Follow the instructions in the Fivetran dashboard to setup your Postgres connector.
5. Once the setup is complete, you can begin syncing data from PostgreSQL to Snowflake.
