Hatzfeldtrasse Wuppertal (planning condition)

The so-called Hatzfeldtrasse is a five-kilometre long former road and small railway line that runs from Loh station on the Nordbahntrasse via Sedansberg up to Hatzfeld. Since 1980, the idea of expanding the Hatzfeld route into a walking and cycling path has existed. The project is part of the “Bicycle City 2025” concept and the city of Wuppertal’s cycling concept. The Hatzfeld route would form an attractive link between the Nordbahn route and the Dönberg civic cycle path in the Wuppertal cycling network. The extension of the route will take place in two construction phases. For the first northern construction phase from the Alte Zollhaus to the small garden settlement on Winchenbachstraße, the city of Wuppertal has already submitted a grant application to the state of NRW. It will be updated at irregular intervals as soon as a change in planning status becomes known to Wuppertal’s city cartography.
