The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly transformed various professional domains, including translation and language education. As the translation industry increasingly relies on AI-powered tools such as machine translation systems, corpus-based platforms, and intelligent writing assistants, the training of future translators requires substantial pedagogical rethinking. This article explores the theoretical and practical aspects of integrating AI tools into the educational process of language universities that prepare professional translators. The study analyzes the pedagogical potential of AI technologies, their impact on the formation of professional, linguistic, and intercultural competences, as well as the ethical and methodological challenges associated with their implementation. Particular attention is paid to competency-based and student-centered approaches, which allow AI tools to be used not as substitutes for human translators, but as instruments for enhancing critical thinking, translation awareness, and digital literacy. The article argues that the purposeful and pedagogically grounded integration of AI technologies contributes to the modernization of translator training and increases graduates’ readiness for real-world professional environments.
