Plot-level summary census data and aboveground biomass estimates for Carle et al. (2025), Nature: Aboveground biomass in Australian tropical forests now net carbon source

This dataset is part of the collection supplementary to Carle et al. (2025), <i>Aboveground biomass in Australian tropical forests now net carbon source</i>, Nature. DOI: [xxx]. The full collection is available at DOI: https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.c.7922084.This file contains a plot-level summary of stem inventory data, for stems &gt;= 10 cm DBH, by census interval. Note that all numbers pertain to stems, not trees (i.e., multistem individuals tracked as individual stems). Stem heights were estimated at each time point using a Weibull function fit to all available height-diameter census data from the plots. Aboveground biomass (AGB) of individual stems was calculated using the Chave et al. (2005) moist forest equation: AGB = 0.0509*(WD * DBH² * height). Rates are transformed from plot-level (0.5 ha) to per-hectare (1 ha) by multiplying by 2. All values correspond to the end of the census interval.
