Clinical experiment: gut Enterobacteriaceae was an independent predictor for outcome of ischemic stroke patients.

We focused on the association of gut dysbiosis and ischemic stroke outcome. A training patient cohort including 36 moderate-severe acute ischemic stroke patients was conducted and gut Enterobacteriaceae was found as the most significant biomarker of gut dysbiosis associated with early improvement (EI) outcome 7 days upon admission of ischemic stroke patients. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to assess the association of gut Enterobacteriaceae and 7-day EI outcome and 90-day functional outcome. Another patient cohort including 88 participants was conducted to validate the predictive model.
