NRS-16622 | Register of Admission, Progress and Withdrawal [Cambra Public School]

The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school.The present series consists of a single volume, containing the entire record of admissions, progress and withdrawal at Cambra Provisional and Public Schools. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school is also recorded; this last column also indicates the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission. Until the first closure of the school in August, 1948, these entries are numbered in two parallel and continuous sequences. Upon the re-opening of the school in 1954, the practice of beginning new numbering sequences for boys and for girls at the beginning of each school year commences.The initial enrolments recorded include seventeen children who had previously attended the school’s precursor, the Cambra Subsidised School.The last page of the register to bear any entries concludes with the following note:“Cambra School closed on 20/3/64. Those children who were attending the school up until 20/3/64 have been shown in red ink. F.D. Sheedy T/C 20/3/64.”Six children are so recorded, each of whom transferred to Dungog Central School.

本册档案涵盖每名学生的如下信息：入学日期、学生姓名、出生日期、宗教信仰、此前就读学校名称及离校日期。
同时记录学生家长或监护人的以下信息：姓名、住址与职业。
此外还登记了学生升入各后续年级的入学日期、离校日期，以及离校时从事的职业；该栏位同时可标注学生转往的就读学校。
男生与女生的登记信息按入学顺序分别列于正反两页。在该校1948年8月首次停办前，所有登记条目均采用两套平行且连续的编号序列进行编号。1954年该校复办后，改为在每学年伊始为男生与女生分别启用新的编号序列。
本次存档的首批入学登记信息中，包含17名曾就读于该校前身——坎布拉补助学校（Cambra Subsidised School）的学生。
本登记册存有登记信息的最后一页末尾附有如下备注：
"坎布拉学校于1964年3月20日停办。截至1964年3月20日仍在校就读的学生信息以红色墨水标注。F.D. 希迪 T/C 1964年3月20日。"
本次以红色墨水标注的共有6名学生，均转至邓戈格中心学校（Dungog Central School）就读。
