IMOS - Ships of Opportunity – Expendable Bathythermographs - Upper Ocean Thermal Data collected on the line PX6 (Suva, Fiji- Auckland, New Zealand)

This dataset contains temperature data obtained from XBTs (expendable bathythermographs) deployed by vessels during different cruises between Suva (Fiji) and Auckland (New Zealand).Expendable Bathythermographs (XBTs) have been used for many years by oceanographers to measure the temperature of the upper ocean. These instruments are simple devices which are designed to be deployed from moving vessels, enabling broad scale coverage of the world's oceans.本数据集收录了船舶在斐济苏瓦（Suva）与新西兰奥克兰（Auckland）之间的各航次中投放的抛弃式温深仪（expendable bathythermographs，XBT）所获取的温度数据。抛弃式温深仪（XBT）已被海洋学家用于上层海洋水温测量长达数十年之久，该类仪器结构简便，专为从移动船舶上投放设计，可实现全球海域的大范围观测覆盖。
