Turkish Bilateral Investment Treaties Corpus (1962–2025)

Dataset 1 is the foundation of a three-dataset corpus covering all 141 international investment agreements of the Republic of Türkiye (1962-2025): 139 bilateral investment treaties, one regional plurilateral agreement (ECO Member States, 2005), and one memorandum of understanding (Islamic Development Bank, 2013). Treaties were signed between June 1962 and April 2024; treaty-status metadata (entry into force, termination, replacement) are tracked through 31 December 2025. Version 2.0 extends the corpus from 132 to 141 agreements, adding the treaties with Poland (1991), Slovenia (2004), Lebanon (2004), Somalia (2016), Mozambique (2017), Chad (2017), Mauritania (2018), Burkina Faso (2019) and Angola (2021), and revalidates every file. Four signed treaties are excluded because no official text has been published in any language (Cuba, Tajikistan and the Republic of the Congo, all 2024; Kazakhstan, 2026). Dataset 1 supplies the source material: cleaned full-text treaty files, treaty-level metadata (140-variable structure following the UNCTAD IIA Mapping Project methodology, with 101 UNCTAD variables, 17 custom additions and 22 metadata fields), article-by-article extracts, a machine-readable schema, a step-by-step reproducibility protocol, and the Pehlivan FPS Typology, an original seven-category classification (Types A-G) of full protection and security clauses.
