A method and system for discharging a biomass material from a reactor (5) in a biomass treatment system (1a; 1b; 1c)， wherein said biomass material has been treated under a first pressure in the reactor (5)， said method comprising the steps of:- transferring the biomass out from the reactor through an outlet (9) of the reactor(5);- receiving the biomass in a dilution discharger (13a; 13b; 13c) connected to the outlet (9) of the reactor (5);adding a liquid into the dilution discharger (13a; 13b; 13c)and thereby creating a biomass slurry;- releasing steam from the dilution discharger (13a; 13b; 13c); andtransferring the biomass slurry out from dilution discharger through a biomass slurry outlet (21) of the dilution discharger (13a; 13b; 13c).
