Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine condition affecting women of reproductive age, influencing the endocrine, reproductive system, and metabolic processes. Gymnema sylvestre is a traditional medicinal plant renowned for its diverse pharmacological properties, including antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and lipid-lowering effects.This study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and hormonal modulation effects of Gymnema Sylvestre vs. Diane-35 in PCOS patients.In this Randomized controlled study, 50 patients were diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. Their age range (18-40 years) was equally allocated into two groups. Parameters assessed before and after treatments course include: serum LH and FSH, LH/FSH ratio, Free testosterone, leptin, IL-8 and IL-10.After 3 months, significant reduction in leptin hormone level, and interleukin 8, restoration of LH level, LH/FSH ratio with promising improvement in free testosterone level.Gymnema sylvestre may serve as an effective standalone or adjunct therapy for PCOS due to its metabolic and anti-inflammatory benefits.
