Alfred Dunbavin Butcher Guide to Records

The Alfred Dunbavin Butcher Guide to Records documents and contextualises the records of Alfred Dunbavin Butcher, a zoologist and conservationist. The papers are mainly personal and official correspondence, and also include artworks, publications, photographs, slides, news clippings, and memorabilia. The collection documented by the Guide consists of 6480 inventory items, mostly paper format files, grouped into 22 series. The collection dates mainly from the early 1930s until the late 1980s. The total collection occupies 1,819 linear cm of shelf space (or its equivalent).

The Guide is the output of a research database. It was published online by the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre in July 2004. Work on the collection was started in 1993 by the Australian Science Archives Project.

The records are held by the State Library of Victoria (MS 13595). The collection was listed by Andrea Barnes, Gavan McCarthy, Ann McCarthy and Rachel Tropea.
