The activated sludge wastewater was incubated in a chemostat reactor with an extremely low flux of N2O and trace oxygen as only electron acceptors. The microbial community was monitored through 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequence analysis, and metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analyses were performed on the final enrichment through shotgun sequencing and RNASeq.
