Éléments de géométrie algébrique (EGA): Canonical French and Standalone English Editions

2026-08-08 EGA II printed-p.21 / standalone-English R187 checkpoint. This same-concept successor maintains exactly two independent cumulative editions. The canonical diplomatic French reader and master now extend through EGA II printed p.21: they complete 2.1.2, admit Lemma 2.1.3, Corollaries 2.1.4 and 2.1.5, and open the proof of Lemma 2.1.6 through the printed words “formé des combinaisons”. The independent standalone English EGA 0–IV reader remains complete as a reader and has been source-rechecked through every admitted French page. A fourth read-only EGA-to-Stacks referral identified a real corrected-layer imprecision in EGA I Definition 1.7.1: the identification of Γ(X,O_X) with a presentation ring A is canonical only after an isomorphism X ≅ Spec(A) has been chosen. Identity versus t ↦ t+1 presentations of Spec(k[t]) give the explicit counterexample. Diplomatic French preserves the printed wording unchanged. Standalone English now inserts only “after choosing such an isomorphism”; R187 records the exact 37-byte inverse, three identical serialized builds, and direct visual QA of physical page 291. The intrinsic ring A(X)=Γ(X,O_X) and all theorems remain unaffected. French and English are separate standalone editions with separate masters, sources, manifests, QA, and reversible ledgers. There is no bilingual, paired, parallel, side-by-side, interleaved, or combined reader. 03_INDEX.md is non-reader semantic metadata. Canonical French EGA 0–IV remains incomplete; the next direct-NUMDAM cursor is EGA II printed p.22. Earlier versions and the 80 inherited files remain immutable historical evidence.
