We studied the impact of hypoxic incubation on the cardiac transcriptome in American alligator embryos. Details of the experiment can be found in the paper by Rhen et al., 2025. In brief, Alligator eggs were incubated in normoxic (21% O₂) or hypoxic (10% O₂) conditions for most of embryogenesis. We then sampled embryos at 70% and 90% of development to determine the effect of hypoxia, age, and the interaction between hypoxia and age on gene expression profiles in hearts. Supplementary Table 1 is a list of genes that were differentially expressed between hearts in hypoxic versus normoxic conditions. Supplementary Table 2 is a list of genes that were differentially expressed between hearts of embryos at 70% and 90% of embryogenesis. Supplementary Table 3 is a list of genes that were affected by the oxygen by age interaction. In Supplementary Table 4, hypoxia-regulated genes in alligator embryo hearts were compared to genes from a comprehensive meta-analysis of hypoxia-regulated genes in human and mouse by Bono and Hirota (Meta-analysis of hypoxic transcriptomes from public databases.
