Here, we found that thermal stress extensively increased Candida clinical isolates tolerance to ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitors, especially azoles. The thermal stress induced azole tolerance can be abolished by ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitors. This finding makes a reasonable explanation on the relation between the thermal stress and azoles and provides a way by reducing the activity of Erg11 to avoid the emergence of tolerance under thermal stress, which means a lot in the treatment of azoles in clinical candidiasis.
