Database of Main Oceanic Heat Parameters for the Western Tropical North Atlantic (MOHP-WTNA)

This database compiles essential parameters for ocean heat budget analysis in the Western Tropical North Atlantic (longitude: -98° to -34°, latitude: -6° to 32°), derived from the Ocean Reanalysis System 5 (ORAS5) global dataset. Key variables include:1. Ocean-Atmosphere Interface Flux (DHF): Spatially averaged from the original ORAS5 lat-lon grid data for predefined subregions.2. Ocean Heat Content (OHC): Calculated from temperature profiles (0–2000 m depth), incorporating adjusted heat capacity and density values for each zone. The data are stratified by depth layers (0–300 m, 300–700 m, 700–2000 m, 2000 m–bottom, and 0–2000 m) and temporal periods (1983–1997 and 1997–2022).3. Ocean Heat Transport (OHT): Computed across 21 latitudinal and meridional sections to characterize regional heat dynamics.Designed for climate and oceanographic research, this dataset facilitates studies on heat variability, meridional transport, and long-term trends in the tropical Atlantic. The database has two types of formats: netcdf and ascii (csv and txt).
