Replication Data and Code for “De la protesta a las urnas: movilización social y voto a la izquierda radical en Europa”

This dataset contains the replication materials for the article “De la protesta a las urnas: movilización social y voto a la izquierda radical en Europa”. The study analyses the association between social mobilisation, trade union strength and the electoral performance of radical left parties in Europe. The dataset covers 35 European countries and national elections held between 2021 and 2025. The unit of analysis is the country-election. Electoral performance is measured through the aggregate vote share of radical left parties and the vote share of the main radical left party in each country. The main explanatory variables include protest frequency per 100,000 inhabitants in the two years before the election, trade union density, collective bargaining coverage and previous parliamentary representation of radical left parties. The repository includes the final dataset, the R script used to reproduce the analysis, exported model results, figures, a codebook and a README file. The script reproduces descriptive statistics, OLS models with HC3 robust standard errors, robustness checks, fractional logit models, leave-one-out tests and the figures included in the manuscript. Data sources include Parties and Elections in Europe, ParlGov, ACLED, OECD-AIAS ICTWSS, World Bank, Eurobarometer and alternative survey sources documented in the codebook.
